The
shortage of services, inadequate equipment, the use of inappropriate vehicles, a
glut of
obstructive road encroachments, gender inequity in the service delivery, almost non
existent investment funding, and broad scale institutional fragmentation are only some of
the fundamental urban transport issues.
Both public and private sector give only fleeting focus to the study and resolution of
these problems. As a result, Pakistan suffers from severe road congestion, air pollution
and unnecessary safety risks, which endanger lives.
